Unfortunately, many survivors of suicide (those left behind after a loved one’s death) will never know why their loved one made this choice. There are many questions and often, these questions will go unanswered. The psychological autopsy can help. The conclusion of the investigation is based on the information collected from personal documentation, police reports, medical and coroner’s records, and face-to-face interviews with friends and family, and others that may have been in contact with that person before their death. This has been proven to be a valuable tool for families, the legal system in cases of malpractice, coroners and insurance companies.
